I have been trying to finish off Robert Ludlum's "The Sigma Protocol" since past month now, but without much success. As I was reading it over the weekend, I came across a word "dot-head". From the context, I could understand that it was a racial slur because the character in question is not happy about the increasing population of the dot-heads in his country. Then came the reference to Chicken Vindaloo. With a jolt, I realized that "dot-head" is a reference to Hindu women who apply a Bindi on their foreheads.
I must confess that the slur stung but I was also amused to have been so slow on the uptake.
In any case, it should have been "Chicken Tikka" and not "Chicken Vindaloo" ;-)
