Supernatural S12, E13

Now this one had a lot of things that were simply too tough to digest.

One, was sending Gavin back really the only way to get rid of the ghost? Couldn't Crowley have brought back Fiona's bones, no matter how deep within the Atlantic the rested? If my memory serves me right, during the whole Mark of Cain saga, Crowley had managed to dig something out of the ocean.

Two, how was Crowley able to pervert Rowena's spell when he hasn't shown any special talent in the charms and spells department so far? To have done that without Rowena's knowledge seems next to impossible. She has more brains than him and the Winchesters (including Mary!) put together.

Three, if Gavin stopped Fiona from turning into a ghost and killing all those teachers, hasn't time and past been tampered with? No one noticed that the dead are back? And  the stories of their gruesome deaths disappeared off the internet as well? Seriously?

The only silver lining in this sorry episode is that Lucifer won't be able to use Gavin as a bait to make Crowley do what he wants - unless, of course, he offers to bring Gavin back from the dead. Plus I am glad Mary has finally told Sam and Dean that she has been working with the British Men of Letters .

On the negative side though, getting Gavin killed and using that to settle what they owed to Rowena was definitely a low for the Winchesters. I am very afraid that it is going to turn Crowley against them. A very poor way to repay him for what he did for Castiel. :-( I have no idea why Arthur Ketch is hell-bent on driving a wedge between Mary and her sons but I hope the Winchesters see through that soon.

If there is a referendum on this Brexit, I sure am voting an 'Aye' :-)

Nearly died of a cardiac arrest! Why do the writers love putting Castiel in harm's way? It was extremely painful, not to mention heartbreaking, to watch him wincing in pain. :-(

I have a sinking feeling that Mary Winchester is going to be the cause of death for Castiel or Sam or Dean. The lady seems to have left her logic and common sense behind when she was brought back from the dead. Seriously, Amara should have brought back John Winchester along with Mary. The guy could have kept her in check. I just couldn't believe that she didn't give up what she had stolen from Ramiel even when her own children's lives were in danger. Pathetic! I feel sorry for Sam for trusting mommie dearest so much. Dean is right in viewing all her actions with distrust.

I must confess that I was very glad when Crowley made an appearance though I didn't quite understand what the whole Princes of Hell thing means. It's equally unclear why Crowley offered the crown of Hell to Ramiel. But I am sure Castiel owes Crowley one for saving his life. The decision to break the Lance wouldn't have been easy for the king of Hell to make.

The Winchesters, and even Castiel (though he can be forgiven because he was wounded at the time), seem to have missed the clue that Ramiel inadvertently gave away regarding Lucifer's child. I hope they don't pay a heavy price for the same.

As far as the shifty-eyed Brit, Arthur Ketch, goes, I think Mary is going to regret her decision to team up with him. But if anyone is going to die as a result of this mistake of epic proportions, I hope it is only her.

Supernatural Season 12, E11

The Winchesters gave Rowena a very raw deal. Plain and Simple. If I were her, I wouldn't answer their next call. And for the record, I am losing count of how many times little Sammie has ended up saving his elder brother. God! It's about time Dean Winchester started behaving responsibly.

I have a feeling though that the the Black Grimoire is going to come in handy for the Winchesters one day. To kill Lucifer Jr., maybe?

Supernatural Season 12, E10

This one looked like the writers have finally found a perfect way to weave a tale combining a case and the ongoing saga of Lucifer vs. the rest of the world. Though I must admit that I found it a bit hard to stomach that the angels didn't do their own due diligence before dispatching Akobel and allowing Ishim to get rid of Lily's daughter May. It was equally difficult to believe that an angel can be summoned by a human - no matter how deep her study.

That said, I was glad Sam kept his head and found that Lily had a different story to tell. Dean increasingly has started behaving like the proverbial bull in a China shop.

Rings

If you haven't had the misfortune of watching this one yet, my advise to you is - Don't. Seriously. Put your time to better use. Even if that means staring at a blank wall. If there is any movement going on about putting a limit to the number of times an old tale can be rehashed, it has my unconditional support.

When I had watched the first Ring movie, it had almost scared me to death. Actually I hadn't watched it of my own accord. A trusted friend had tricked me into watching it with her. And I had spent the whole night wide awake stealing occasional glances at the TV screen in the guest room of their family home and hating Samara for violently killing cute-as-a-button Martin Henderson. By the time Ring 2 got released I had wizened up but watched it because my fascination for the horror genre had grown by leaps and bounds in the interim period. Of course, I knew to shut my eyes whenever the TV screen showed the infamous well. Though the vague feeling of unrest persisted for a few minutes past watching the movie, the bedroom did not contain a TV this time and I was able to sleep like a baby. :-)

When I saw the ad for 'Rings' I inwardly groaned saying 'God! Not Again' because I wondered what's left of the tale to be told. But sometimes you got to tag along with the family. Plus I didn't want them to think that I was backing out because I was afraid. So I watched the movie. Not much in the plot to write home about. This time around it's some college kids who end up as Samara's victims. We discover a bit more about her childhood. More people die gruesome deaths.

And just when I wondered why people needed to make the DVD copies to get Samara off their backs in this age of Facebook and WhatsApp, she managed to find a way to travel through emails. I wonder if she will have a YouTube channel of her own in the next installment. Next installment? Sure. If the movie end is anything to go by, we haven't seen the last of the freaky gal with long hair. She will be back. Mark my words. But I sure as hell am not keen on meeting her the next time she comes crawling out of that well.

A blank wall would be much more interesting :-)

P.S. I wasn't amused when the professor said that some primitive cultures believe that cremating the mortal remains helps the soul to be reborn. Hinduism believes that, Professor, and ours in not a primitive culture, it's an ancient one.
