To be frank, I had not much liked the flavors that Hippo had first brought to the market. But a few days back I saw a whole new range of their flavors in the neighborhood supermarket and decided to give them a try. I am glad I did. Goan Butter Garlic and Gujarati Mango Chutney are simply yum! Plus these chips are baked, not fried. What more can one ask for?

Come, fall in love with Ramayana
Talking about the FM channels, I am getting addicted to the Ramayana being telecast daily on FM channel Fever (104.0). I must say that I was never a fan of the epic. I have always thought it to be too idealistic to be applicable to the modern times. I have always liked Mahabharata better. But this Ramayana has got me hooked - despite Nasiruddin Shah's Marco-like Ravana :-)
You can catch Ramayana at 7am, 1pm and 9pm.

Life Gulmohar Style
A few days back I tuned in to FM Rainbow in the hopes of catching the latest on the radio drama - Life Gulmohar Style. Just a day before, Chanchal, one of the characters, was in the hospital. So I wanted to know what happened next. But I was surprised to find that it was the last telecast of the drama that day. On one hand, I was happy that I could catch the last episode. On the other, it was sad because the characters of Chanchal, Maanvi, Revant , Chirantan and Sara had become so familiar and dear. I will surely miss them!

Long Live the Potato!
The good old potato can breath a sigh of relief now. If the latest research is anything to go by, then the potbellied veggie can help weight loss if prepared in a healthy fashion. To ensure that the vegetable needs to show a bit of skin :-) I nearly went weak in the knees when I read that the people who were part of the research group were given 5 to 7 servings of the potatoes per week! Wow!
Now I am waiting for the day when the researchers will claim that a combo of dollops of chocolate ice-cream, innumerable chocolate chips and sizzling rich chocolate sauce can do wonders for weight loss :-) I will be in heaven!

Masterminds - Fox Crime
This is one serial I am increasingly getting hooked to. Yesterday night there were 8 episodes back-to-back. Of course, I could watch only 3 of them but they were very interesting. The first one was "Fool's Gold" - about a mining scandal that involved a Canadian mining company called Bre-X and a region in Indonesia called Busang. The second episode was "The Bandit Queen" - Judy Amar, who targeted homes of the wealthy folks residing at Florida's gated communities in the 90s. And the third one was about Carl Gugasian, The Friday Night Robber, who robbed the banks at the closing time on Fridays.
How I wish our desi channels would air such programs on interesting crime cases in India.

Iron deficient Politician
Have you seen the Kellogg's ad in which the lady is standing right in front of the mike in a wedding when she bad-mouths the groom's parents? Turns out her brain isn't functioning at its optimum best because of iron deficiency. Now you know which politician I am talking about, don't you? :-)
