There was a time when the product ads were remembered for their catchy tunes. Who can forget "Hamara Bajaj" or "Happy Days are here again. Food, friends and Thums Up"? But these days the ad agencies are covering up their inability to come up with memorable jingles by using mutilated versions of old Hindi favorites. First it was Scooty Pep with its "जाने दो ना", then it was Yamaha with "रुक जाना नहीं"। And the latest entrant seems to be Coke. Don't ask me which Hindi song they are using. I don't remember - simply because the song had nothing to do with a soft drink.
Is this laziness, "चलता है" attitude or simply lack of imagination?
