Oh Boy! I was thinking that 'Sushi' is probably the one thing that I need to steer clear of if I ever managed to visit Japan. Looks like there is something else that would make Sushi seem quite palatable in comparison - Shit Burger! I am still not sure if this shit burger really exists or is someone's idea of a joke. But if this is true, then I wonder what the world is really coming to these days :-(

Ordinary people, extra-ordinary acts

Heroes who averted a head-on train crash in Delhi

Some of you will say 'so what?'. They were just doing their job. Really? And how many of us can honestly say that about ourselves? In this country, anyone who is doing his or her job honestly and to the best of his/her ability is indeed extra-ordinary!
A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question.

The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath, and stopped centimeters from a shop window. For a second everything went quiet in the cab.

Then the driver said: Look mate, don't ever do that again. You scared the hell out of me! The passenger apologized & said, "I didn't realize that a little tap would scare you so much.

The driver replied," Sorry it is not your fault. Today is my first day as a taxi driver - I've been driving a van carrying dead bodies for the last 25 years.....

MORAL: Do not stick to one job for a long time!!!
As I mentioned earlier on this blog, a couple of days back I had sent an email on my B school's alumni network asking if anyone knew about any books or study material for Public Relations exam. One alumnus wrote back saying that he liked the quote in my signature which goes like:

Life is mostly froth and bubble
Two things stand like stone
Kindness in another's trouble
Courage in your own

He shared a quote by Thomas Jefferson that he likes:

In matters of style, swim with the current
In matters of principle, stand like a rock

IBF India

Since past few days, some of the TV channels are displaying information about IBF India at the bottom of the screen. It says that viewers can get in touch with this organization if they find any content offensive and/or disturbing. For more details, visit http://ibfindia.com/guidelines.php

Two places are the most valuable in the world:

The nicest place is to be in someone's thoughts.
The safest place is to be in someone's prayers.

वास्तुसंवाद : कृत्रिम घरटी
I reached the milestone of reading 200 books in 5 years with the novel of one of my most favorite authors - Agatha Christie. This time it was "The ABC Murders". :-) Now looking forward to completing reading of 250 books!
About 2 days back, a friend SMSed me asking if I knew about any books on "Public Relations". I didn't have a clue so I asked her for the specifics that I could post on my B School alumni network. She said that her sister is appearing for entrance exam of the said program from Mumbai University. I posted an email accordingly.

I was surprised when I received an answer from one alumnus:
Effective Public Relations - Cutlip, Center & Broom

I must confess that I found the names of the authors rather funny. Never before in my life had I heard about anyone having these last names. But I was busy so I SMSed the details to my friend. Pat came the SMS 'is this supposed to be a book?". I wrote back "What else could it be?". She fired "It sounds rather funny". I rolled my eyes as much as I could and did a quick check on Google. The book is genuine alright!

I am sure my friend would have heard "sounds funny" too when she told her sister about the book :-)
