Here's 2 gems that a friend of mine sent as SMSs:

If you want to Walk Quick, Walk Alone
If you want to Walk Far, Walk Together

The biggest loss in life - Tears in someone's eyes because of you.
The biggest achievement in life - Tears in someone's eyes for you.

A young lady is giving directions to her new boyfriend to get to her apartment.

She says: ''You come to the front door of the apartment complex where I live and look for apartment 14A, and with your elbow push button 14A. Come inside and you'll find the elevator on the right. With your elbow hit 14. When you get out of the elevator you'll find my apartment on the left. With your elbow, hit my doorbell and I'll open the door for you''

The boyfriend says: ''Dear, that sounds very easy to find, but why am I hitting all these buttons with my elbow?''

"Oh my God!! You're not coming empty-handed, are you?''

A kangaroo at the Sydney zoo kept getting out of his enclosure every night. Knowing that mature kangaroos could hop very high, the zoo officials replaced the eight-foot fence with a ten-foot fence. He was out the next morning, just roaming around the zoo.

They tore down the ten-foot fence and put up a fifteen-foot fence. He was out again the next morning.

A twenty-foot fence was put up.Again he go out.

When the fence was forty feet high, a camel in the next enclosure asked the kangaroo, "How high do you think they'll go?"

The kangaroo said, "About a thousand feet, unless somebody thinks to lock the gate at night!"

Happy Republic Day!

Here's wishing all fellow Indians a Very Happy Republic Day! I salute all those who laid down their lives so we could remain a free country and all those who are striving every day to make it better.

On this auspicious day, make it a point to give back to the country that has given you so much. Donate to the charity of your choice. For starters, here are 2 of them:

Can someone please take the latest Airtel ad off air? Kareena Kapoor looks maddening the way she simpers around Saif who is clearly interested more in the game than her. And her last stupid look of absolute incredulity at how quickly he sets up her calling tune makes my blood boil with rage. The ad smacks of the typical chauvinistic belief that women are technologically challenged!

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows (Spoiler)

I finished reading the last of the Harry Potter series! “Amazing” is the word that comes to mind। I rejoiced when the whole of Hogwarts decides to stood up to put up a fight. It was good symbolism to show that each of Harry’s friends – including Neville – helped him destroy a Horcrux. Dobby’s death was sad. I also was hoping that the Weasley family wouldn’t suffer any casualties. And I still believe that Fred shouldn’t have died. :-(

What’s more, it turned out that Dumbledore’s faith in Snape wasn’t unjustified। When Harry thought that Dumbledore was pleading Snape not to kill him, Dumbledore was in fact reminding Snape of his promise to kill him so that Draco would be spared. Wonderful!

It felt weird to read about Harry’s and Ron’s family in the end though। Somehow, it seemed as if they grew up from 11-year olds in a very short span of time – though clearly 19 years have passed since.

However, I am not sure whether Voldemort is dead once and for all। The scene at King’s Cross station isn’t very clear on this point. And the last sentence that Harry’s scar hasn’t hurt since the past 19 years reminded me of those movies about mutated creatures in which one egg or one creature is shown to have survived in the end – as a provision for a sequel.

So have we really heard the last of Harry, Hermione, Ginny and Ron? :-)
