Supernatural, S12, E17

A groan escaped my lips as I saw the words Kendricks Academy, London against the backdrop of two kids walking the school hallways, Harry Potter style. I am sure I wouldn't have survived any episode about the British Men Of Letters school. Fortunately, it turned out to be a flashback to an incident in the childhood of Mick Davies. Please God, let there be no more episodes about this academy.

That said, Mick's death came as a shock. I remember visibly cringing as Ketch fired the shot. At first, I thought someone is imagining this but I guess the poor soul is really no more. To be sure, I wasn't much fond of the British duo to begin with. But I had come to tolerate, and to a certain extent appreciate, Mick. He had a bit of humanity left in him. With time and patience the Winchesters could have turned him into a worthy ally. Ketch, however is a completely hopeless case. Speaking of Ketch, it came as no surprise that him and Mary are getting too close for comfort. It was always a matter of time. Still, the sight of him sitting entangled in the sheets was, to put it mildly and kindly, disturbing :-( I almost lost all my dinner.

As far as the remaining Brits go, the nerd Renny got on my nerves all the time he was on screen. I applauded when first Dean and later Eileen put him in his place. Thank God he is dead so we don't have to suffer him anymore. Dr. Hess doesn't just have the proverbial British 'stiff upper lip', she seems to be the physical manifestation of the word 'stiff'. I absolutely hated it when she referred to the Winchesters as mangy and ill-bred. I hope someone puts a bullet in her head, and soon. I am almost sure it's going to be Mary.

I am very afraid that Crowley is horribly under-estimating Lucifer. And that the Winchesters, along with the rest of the humanity, are going to pay the price for it in the end. I am also afraid that all the good guys are already too late in stopping the Nephilim from being born. For once, I agree with Mick that they should kill Kelly. But I doubt if it will do any good anymore. I can only hope that Cass comes back with a more effective solution to put an end to this menace. And I got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach when Dr. Hess told Mick that something big is coming. Hell, it must be the 'consequence of cosmic proportion' that the Reaper was talking about.

I am going to watch all remaining episodes of this season sitting on the edge of the chair, fervently praying that Sam, Dean and Castiel are left unharmed when the Season Finale ends.

Supernatural, S12, E16

With so many movies about them, vampires and werewolves have become sort of garden-variety supernatural forces, don't you think? Certainly not worth a whole episode. Especially not when that episode does little to move ahead either the main or the subsidiary story lines. Well, it did show that Mick was finally seeing the folly in following The Code blindly. But given the fact that he is killed in the following episode, that thread has gone nowhere either - unless, of course, the British Men Of Letters have some secret formula or ritual for bringing back their dead operatives. That would be creepy indeed.

And who has heard of a 100% success rate in a human trial of something which till then had been tried only on mice? :-(
