I am afraid that one of these days I am going to find myself in an Electronics store shopping for a new TV. I am pretty sure I am going to throw something heavy and handy at it pretty soon. It's these stupid ads again!

First, it is the new installment of that "मीठेमे मीठा हो जाए". I don't think the ad is as innocent as it looks. And if I am right about it, then the person who thought this up should be kicked 100 times! This is an ad for a chocolate, not for a condom, you moron! And don't get me started on their earlier ad. I always wished I could somehow reach through the television and whack that stupid arrogant kid who tastes the chocolate just to ensure that no one else wants it.

Then there is an ad from Nokia, one by Fanta (an animated girl!), one with Priyanka Chopra in outrageous spinach and ice-cream costumes (I am usually so busy fuming at this ad that I never notice which refrigerator it is promoting!) and the "Burrr" ad from Coke.

I feel sad for the person who has thought up the current ads for the Havells fans. The concept is good but so poorly executed that I suspect they were operating on a shoe-string budget which ran out smack in the middle of the ad shooting! :-(

'Byomkesh Bakshi' on DD

It was fun to watch one of the episodes of long forgotten 'Byomkesh Bakshi' yesterday on DD. A half-an-hour episode is aired every Tuesday at 10pm. While I agree that the case wasn't too difficult to crack, it was refreshing to see a simple narrative brought forth in an engaging manner. No saas, no bahu, no tamasha! What a relief!

How I wish DD would take notice of nostalgic people like me and start airing the classics like ये जो है जिंदगी, करमचंद and जबान सम्भालके :-)
I somehow don't find the IPL matches terribly interesting. Is everything still pale compared to India's World Cup win or is it simply a case of "Cricket Overdose"? I am not sure.

I read somewhere that a ODI series between India and Pakistan is in the offing. I hope this is only a rumor. I am sure such matches will do more harm than good as far as the relations between the two countries go. :-(

ICC seems hell-bent on keeping countries such as the Netherlands and Ireland out of the 2015 World Cup. The reason is that they are considered as "The Minnows". Hello, don't we have 4 more years to go still? Why can't the so-called giants of the cricketing world start touring these countries so the "Minnow" teams can practice and hone their skills? What's the point of calling it the "World Cup" if you are gonna try every trick in the book to keep new members from coming in?

Oops, I forgot. There are no big bucks in such tours, are there any? Who thinks about promoting cricket and such rubbish! Sadly, no one :-(
