Quit India Movement - Version 2011
Quick. Tell me when was the Quit India movement launched. If your answer is "August, 1942", you are partially right because there is another such movement launched this year. To find out more, visit http://quitindiamovement.com/
I found this in my mailbox today:
Calvary Greetings In The Name Of Our Lord I am Mrs.Annete Mills,it is by the grace of God that this occurred knowing the truth and that the truth shall set me free,Heaven known's the truth,i had no choice than to do what is lawful and rightful in the sight of God for eternal life and in the sight of man for witness of God's Mercy and Glory upon my life. My late husband DR.HANS MILLS deposited some money with a Bank when he was alive,I'm suffering from esophageal cancer am searching for a trustworthy person who will be the beneficiary of the fund and use it to finance Charity Organizations and help the needy families within Australia, Asia,America,U.A.E,Europe and other parts of the world my heart tells me that you can do this for me,do reply as soon as possible.
Regards,
Annete Mills.
I must confess that I didn't really understand the first 4 lines about truth. I am also not sure why this lady, who is supposedly suffering from cancer, not using this money for her own treatment. I am equally in the dark about why she cannot herself become the beneficiary rather than searching for some stranger.
I guess the days of the lottery scams are over and now the crooks have hit upon the idea of using religion as the brand ambassador for their work. God help us all!
BTW, any idea on why UAE is being listed separately and Africa has been unceremoniously described as "other parts of the world"?? :-)

एका कृषी साधकाची आगळी श्री गणेश पूजा !
If you are one of those who like to grow vegetables and fruits and can understand Marathi (or can find someone who does), read on - एका कृषी साधकाची आगळी श्री गणेश पूजा !
Food Food Channel
I discovered it by accident while surfing the channels 2 days back and have been addicted to it ever since. The first Indian TV channel dedicated solely to food! Wow!
I have watched 2 episodes of "Sanjeev Kapoor's Kitchen" (this channel is his brainchild, by the way) And Rakesh Sethi's "Chai Nashta". Loved both of them.
I have watched single episode of "Khata Rahe Mera Dil" so far. This one took the viewers on a tour of eating joints in Kolkata - right from Momos and Kheema-stuffed Parathas to the famous Bengali dessert - Sondesh. Simply Yum!
I didn't like "Turban Tadka" though. The chef kept on saying "Bhai" at the end of every sentence - as if to emphasize his Punjabi roots . Not that it wasn't apparent from the turban he was wearing! I got bored and changed channel halfway through the program. I am not likely to watch it again. Similarly, the program "Ready Steady Cook" hosted by Roshni Chopra was high on hype and low on content. I am not going to be one of its repeat viewers.
I hope they launch a website soon. I would really love to see a comprehensive listing of places to eat - especially small road-side eateries - across the whole width and breadth of the country. That will help me plan out the culinary journey that I am hoping to make across India one day.
Till then, I am more than happy to watch this true-blue desi foodie channel :-)
